Good news/bad news/corrected news about Obama’s judicial appointments

The Senate confirmed Stephanie Rose to the Iowa district court, making her the 72nd woman he has nominated to the federal courts. The bad news is that he has nominated fewer judges overall than his predecessors, squandering his short window of opportunity for shaping the federal bench. Contrary to the Huffington Post, Rose was not Iowa’s first.

President Bush appointed Judge Linda Reade to the federal district court for the Northern District in Iowa in 2002. Stephane Rose was not Iowa’s first federal judge.
